PEG Placement

Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) is an endoscopic procedure in which a PEG tube is passed into the stomach through the abdominal wall. This tube is used as a means of feeding when oral intake is not possible. The procedure is an alternative to surgical gastrostomy insertion. PEG tubes may also be extended into the small intestine by passing a jejunal extension tube, called a PEG-J tube, through the PEG tube and small intestine.
