ERCP with Sphincter of Oddi Manometry (SOM)

ERCP with SOM is an endoscopic procedure used to investigate unexplained abnormal liver tests or upper abdominal pain. ERCP with SOM allows the physician to take x-ray pictures of the ducts, or drainage routes, in the gallbladder, liver and pancreas and obtain pressures of the “Sphincter of Oddi” muscle, which controls the flow of fluid exiting your pancreatic and common bile duct into the duodenum.
